Over the past period, we were able to organise a nice series of key clinics exclusively for ladies for our client Shimano Benelux B.V.. A total of seven clinics throughout the country, in which a total of 92 ladies were able to participate. Each clinic took place in a Shimano Service Centre, led by Nadine Post, mechanic at Velodrome Roden. Hierbij een kort verslag met mooie foto’s van Michiel Maas en Janine Kamminga.
Knowledge and confidence
Vanuit onze opdrachtgever, maar juist ook vanuit de markt is er vraag naar het opbouwen van kennis en vertrouwen bij (klein) onderhoud aan de fiets. Niet alleen bij dames overigens, maar ook bij heren. Bij het publiceren van de campagne rondom de clinics ontvingen wij veel vragen van mannen: ‘komt er ook een herenvariant’ of ‘mogen heren ook deelnemen?’ Daarnaast merkten wij dat de vraag naar een vervolg op de niveau 1 clinics ook hoog is.
Level differences
Clinics are offered at two levels:
- Level 1: this was the basics: changing a tyre and taking the wheel off the bike
- Level 2: this was the follow-up, focusing on changing brake pads and adjusting the derailleur
Meanwhile, many more questions were asked related to the topics, further deepening the knowledge. Very valuable for all present (yes, including us).
Maintenance and upkeep an important issue
De basishandelingen op niveau 1 zorgden voor genoeg uitdaging voor alle aanwezigen. Zo waren er deelneemsters die voor de eerste keer het wiel uit de fiets haalden of die überhaupt nog nooit lek hadden gereden. Gelukkig zou je zeggen, maar de kennis en kunde om bij lek rijden toch zelfredzaam te zijn…. Daarnaast waren er ook ervaren rijdsters die blij waren met de opfrissing van de kennis. Onder het toeziend oog én met de hulp en uitleg van Nadine ging iedereen met rasse schreden vooruit.
Success formula
We cannot but conclude that it was a great success. The clinics were all fully booked, with each clinic still having ladies on the reserve list. In addition, the clinics were covered in various media, including ZijWielrent.nl and Fiets Magazine. The participants went home with a rucksack full of knowledge, an enjoyable evening, but also with a well-filled goodie bag.
Locations
In consultation with Shimano, we opted for national coverage of the clinics. As the first series consisted of a total of seven (7), we opted for the best possible spread, from North-South and East-West. The following Shimano Service Centres were involved in the first clinics:
- Bike Center Woerden – Woerden
- Herman Experience Cycling – Nijverdal
- Rings Goirle Bikestore – Goirle
- Bike Total Dekkers – Wanssum
- Velodrome – Roden
- Piet de Wit – Wormerveer
The Level 2 clinic was done at Shimano Benelux's training centre in Nunspeet.
